Way With Words is a global transcription company based in Cape Town. We are a dynamic business with mostly offshore clients who require prompt and professional service. We provide individual transcription solutions for our clients or b2b arrangements.
Your primary focus would be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the workflow system and databases and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You would also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your co-workers into the application. Therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary as well.
Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developer
Managing any fixes or improvements to the current company workflow system
Potential to help build efficient, testable and reusable PHP modules for a potential new workflow system
Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges
Integration of data storage solutions
Strong knowledge of PHP web frameworks
Linux server management (Ubuntu/Debian preferable), including some experience with Apache/NGINX.
Good English language and communication skills
Knowledge of object oriented PHP programming
Understanding accessibility and security compliance
Strong knowledge of the common PHP or web server exploits and their solutions
Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
User authentication and authorisation between multiple systems, servers, and environments
Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system
Familiarity with limitations of PHP as a platform and its workarounds
Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, in particular, Git
You should be able to communicate well and be a detail-conscious, focused person.
You must have your own transport for travelling to and from work.
